Shepherd R14 Replacement Drone Reed Blades

Shepherd R14 Replacement Blades are specifically made for the original Shepherd black and white R14 all plastic drone reeds.

Fitting & Set Up Instructions

Before putting a new blade on to the reed, make sure that it has a very slight and even curve. This will ensure that the blade is sitting slightly off the body. The blades simply fit into place by pulling the bridle right back to the end of the reed, removing the old blade and press fitting the new blade on in its place by putting the hole over the small bead. Once in place, pull the bridle back down to a few millimetres above the base.

When setting up the reed with a new blade, it is important to only move the bridle a very small amount each time. Test in the mouth first until the setting is close and then try the drone in the pipes. The reed can be altered in strength by moving the bridle.

If the reed is stopping too easily then the curve in the blade may have to be increased very slightly. Do this by once again removing the blade and very gently, between a finger and thumb, massage a slightly greater curve. Be sure to keep the curve as even as possible and not twist the blade.

Remember that after a little while the blade will settle into position a may require further manipulation but always be sure to be as gentle as possible.
